YW-MED kicks off in Amman, Jordan
On February 5, 2025, Amman, Jordan, became the vibrant backdrop for the official Kick-Off Meeting of the highly anticipated Youth Workers Network Across the Mediterranean Sea project. This event marked the end of the preparation phase and the exciting start of the implementation stage, signalling the beginning of a new chapter for youth workers across the Mediterranean region.
The Kick-Off Meeting was organised by GAYCS and SYL, with SYL playing a key role as a partner based in Jordan, a non-EU country in the Middle East renowned for its commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion. This collaboration, bridging regions and cultures, highlighted the project’s focus on empowering youth workers and fostering inclusion across borders.
The event was more than just an organisational milestone—it was a dynamic and collaborative space where participants had the opportunity to meet, share ideas, and build relationships. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved turned the meeting into an interactive “ideas lab,” where engaging discussions flourished, and team-building activities forged strong bonds. This sense of trust and synergy created a solid foundation that will be crucial for the success of the upcoming phases of the project.
What did we do?
During the meeting, several key operational details were addressed to ensure the smooth execution of the project moving forward:
• Agenda Approval: The detailed agenda for the implementation phase was finalised, outlining the key steps and milestones ahead.
• Monitoring Tools: Important tools such as monitoring files were scheduled to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency throughout the project.
• Brand Identity: The official project logo and visual identity were completed, giving the initiative a professional and recognisable presence.
• Communication Enhancements: Partner logos and official tags were shared to reinforce a unified identity within the network and streamline communication efforts.
• Website Launch: The official project website went live, serving as the central hub for all information about the project’s goals, team, expected results, and upcoming activities.
With all the tools in place and a clear, actionable plan ahead, the Youth Workers Network Across the Mediterranean Sea project has begun with strong momentum. The Kick-Off Meeting in Amman laid the groundwork for a cooperative, effective partnership, and the team is now ready to embark on the next phases with determination, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future.
